Pentecost is 50 days after Easter and the vines draping the arms of the wooden cross by the baptismal font have begun to shrivel. The cross and fountain must be removed, cleaned and stored for next year. The white banners on the 12 columns must be taken down and put away. The altar curtain and cloths are changed to red.

This is an easy changeover but more hands make for quick work.
