Father Arthur Devine
Born - 10 Feb 1924 Called Home - 05 Nov 2005
Fr. Devine transferred into our council in July 1996 from Coatesville, PA. He was an parochial vicar serving with pastor, Father Van A. Wagner, here at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Devine was a charter member of our council.
He also provided ministry at St. Ambrose Parish in Tucson and helped with the Mass in Latin at St. Ann's Convent in Tucson. Father Devine was a courageous advocate for life.
He was a chaplain at the VA and is listed in the 2010 25th Anniversary Salute magazine a publication of the Military Archdiocese. See page 28.
He was ordained for the Diocese of Wellington, New Zealand, but spent many years in America. He was a retired priest when at the age of 81 years old, he passed away on November 5, 2005 in Tucson. One brother and a nephew living in Dorset, England survive Father Devine. A Rosary was prayed on Wednesday morning November 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. Immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. John Arnold, Pastor of St. Ambrose officiating, fellow priests concelebrated the Mass and The Most Reverend Gerald F. Kicanas, D.D., Bishop of Tucson presided. Interment followed at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road.
