School Flagpole

Before

After

Our council has supported many Eagle Scout Projects. One of our favorites is the flagpole we helped Seamus Thomas (Eagle Scout) install in the school courtyard in December 2014. The location of the 25 foot tall flagpole inside the fence of our campus provided a safe area where students can gather around the flag. Limited space and street traffic on Campbell Avenue, prevented conducting flag ceremonies at the original school flagpole in front of school that was installed in 1930

The flagpole is dedicated to the four chaplains of the USS Dorchester which was sunk by an enemy torpedo in WWII.

Replacing Halyard of School Flagpole
13 July 2019

Get Ready

Going Up

The halyard rope on the school flagpole gets a real workout during the school year. It had become worn and needed to be replaced so when the school rented a 35 foot electric lift, the knights borrowed it for an hour to install a new halyard. In the left side picture in the background on the east wall of the school building, you can see the 10 foot tall cross that the knights installed earlier that morning using the 35 foot lift.
