Decorating Church for Easter

All Set

Setting up the Fountain

Many volunteers are needed to decorate the church for Easter. The purple banners on the 12 columns during Lent are taken down and replaced with white banners.

The wooden cross with white cloth is set up by the baptismal font. The fountain and pump are set up in front of the cross. The tall stand for the paschal candle is placed centered in front of the altar. The two 7-candle tall stands are placed on each side of the altar. Two of the tall vases are placed next to the front pillars of the baldachin. Lilies with gold foil are placed on the altar with the tabernacle and at both Mary and Joseph's side altars and at the entrances to the church. Dozens of lilies are arranged in front of the altar and the curtain behind the crucifix and on the altar and gift table and server tables are changed to white.

All votive candles are removed from their stands and the glass globes are cleaned. There must be no candles in the votive candle stands in preparation for the Easter Vigil Mass.
