The first Sunday of Advent begins the new Liturgical year. The old missals-song books must be removed from the pews and replaced with new ones. Altar cloths must be changed to purple. Purple banners must be hung on the 12 columns. The advent wreath and stand are placed near the ambo. Votive candle globes must be washed. Pews must be cleaned and envelopes in the pews restocked.

This is a great opportunity as a family project. Kids love to help load out the books and wipe down the pews with Murphy's Oil Soap. While we clean the church to prepare for the new church year, let us remember that Advent is time to clean out our hearts to prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas.
